Computing

Computing

“We are changing the world with technology.” Bill Gates

Technology is ever changing therefore at Ash Croft Primary Academy we aim to provide all our children with a broad and balanced curriculum with not only the skills to enhance their educational experience but to help change the world.

Through our broad and balanced curriculum, we enable our children to become confident and effective users of a range of technology. At ACPA we are lucky to be a part of the HTML strategy which means that every child in KS1 has access to a bank of laptops and IPads and our KS2 children have access to their own Apple IPad.

We offer our children a wide range of technological experiences such as green screen technology, animation, programing, coding, publishing and VR. We use this throughout our Computing sessions but also across the wider curriculum.

The three strands of Computing (‘Computer Science’, ‘Information Technology’ and ‘Digital Literacy’) are taught through Purple Mash in each year group with opportunities to apply this knowledge through their apple devices and through the wider curriculum. Online safety also underpins everything we do along with the help of our very own child led I-Vengers team.

Our aim is to develop children’s fluency and confidence using a wide range of technological devices. The children at ACPA also have the opportunities to share their learning in creative ways through our blog, air dropping and collaborative projects.

Through all of these, our children are able to become ACE Technology masters.
